Press release: Bostek delivers standby-power to Oslo Internet Exchange

Bostek is awarded a contract from OS-IX Eiendom KS for delivery of standby generators to Oslo Internet Exchange (OS-IX).

OS-IX Eiendom KS is owned by Bulk Infrastructure AS and Akershus Energi AS, and is now upgrading the OS-IX data center which is the largest existing data center in Norway. The upgrade of the data center implies building of a new power station for distribution of 15MW electrical power, and also housing stand by generator sets, securing a reliable electrical supply.

“We are proud to be selected for this project that will last for about seven months, and will be performed in close cooperation with the project organization of OS-IX”, says Iver Wake, Bostek.

In this phase, Bostek will supply, install and commission two standby generator sets. The gensets is manufactured by MTU Onsite Energy, and will be driven by MTU engines 20V4000G63L, which gives the generator sets a standby capacity of 3400 kVA each.

Silencers, funnels, cooling system, generator control system, documentation and training of personnel are also part of the scope.

Bostek (Bertel O. Steen Teknikk AS), located in Bergen, Norway is importer and distributor of products from MTU Friedrichshafen. The company’s core activity is propulsion systems to mobile and stationary, maritime and industrial applications, based on the well known brands MTU and Mercedes-Benz. Bostek supplies generator sets in the power range 500kW – 3MW. Bostek is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bertel O. Steen Industri AS.
